Troops carrying out clearance
operation of suspected livestock rustlers and bandits’ camps and
hideouts in the North West have killed two suspected bandits in a raid
on Thursday.
A statement issued by Col. Sani Usman, the
Army Spokesman, said one of the bandits was killed in Gusau Local
Government Area of Zamfara and the other in Zurmi Local Government Area
of the state.
“Similarly, troops at Anchau,
Kaduna State, pursued a notorious bandit named Danladi Tasha Adamu along
Kargi District unfortunately, he fled into the bush.
“He,
however, abandoned seven rustled cattle and the recovered livestock
were handed over to Kubau Local Government Council officials.”
The army spokesman said troops of 223 Battalion, 1 Brigade of 1 Division, Nigerian Army (Kaduna) carried out the raid.
He
added that while some of the bandits escaped with gun shot wounds, the
troops recovered one Dane gun, two locally made pistols and four
motorcycles.
Usman also said that the troops, in
conjunction with the police, recovered a stolen Mercedes Benz car model
E200 with registration number Lagos CW 504 LND from one Gambo Ibrahim of
Kubacha town.
He noted that the car was stolen at
New Karu, FCT, adding that in line with established procedure, the
troops had destroyed the camps.
