Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole doesn’t like the Igbinedions.
Oshiomhole has been in a long-running feud with the prominent family which produced his predecessor, Lucky Igbinedion.
Below are five comments that show that the Igbinedions aren’t Oshiomhole’s favourite people:
- I want to make it clear to Lucky that the next governor can never be from the Igbinedion family. I am aware that they are in pains since I became governor.
- “Edo cannot return to the house of the Igbinedions… Edo people have seen the light. They cannot go back to the dark era which the Igbinedion house represents.”
- “I will say the truth and Igbinedion can do nothing; I can drive him out of town.”
- “…Igbinedion was fighting me; but I said (that) if he does not obey the law, he will go to prison.”
- “I heard the Chairman talking about my quarrel with Igbinedion. There are only four levels of government, federal, state, local and traditional institution. The House of Igbinedion does not belong to any of this. He is a chief and I respect him as a chief but he must respect constituted authorities, the office of the governor of Edo State.”
