'Claim certificates by October 21 or pay N15, 000' Varsity to graduates


The authorities of the Lagos State University (LASU) has said that the certificates of graduates who left the institution over 10 years ago summing up to 24,734, are lying uncollected at the varsity's registry.

The Acting Head, Centre for Information, Press and Public Relation, LASU, Mr Adekoya Martins, made the disclosure on Friday, September 30, adding that the certificates belonged to students who graduated with diplomas and degrees.
According to Martins, the university has decided to impose a N15,000 fine for graduates who fail to collect theirs before October 21, following the backlog of certificates.
“Before you know it, some the graduates of the university ‎will be clamouring that LASU is withholding their certificates.
“Now that the certificates have been signed and released for collection, only a few are coming for it.
“Collection of certificates commenced on Sept. 26 and it will end on Oct.21.
“Payment for late collection after the stipulated period of four weeks, after Friday, Oct. 21, is N15, 000 only,’’ he said.‎

In its official bulletin, the university said that the certificates were available for collection at the Certificate Unit of the Exams and Records in its Registry.
A breakdown of the certificates and the faculties that were affected was also published in the bulletin.
Graduates were urged to visit the university website, www.lasu.edu.ng, for more information pertaining to the procedure for the collection of certificates and confirmation of the list of issued certificates.‎
