The spokesman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos, Joe Igbokwe has said that former president, Goodluck Jonathan is still a free man because people are pleading for him.
Igbokwe made the comment after Jonathan said that former National Security Adviser (NSA), Sambo Dasuki couldn’t have stolen $2.2 billion as alleged.
“They said the National Security Adviser stole $2.2billion. I don’t believe somebody can just steal $2.2 billion,” Jonathan said on Monday, October 24, at the Oxford Union in the United Kingdom.
“We
bought warships, we bought aircraft, we bought lots of weapons for the
army and so on and so forth and you are still saying 2.2 billion, so
where did we get the money to buy all those things?” Jonathan added.
Igbokwe
however condemned Jonathan’s comments adding that he should be held
responsible for the corruption which took place during his tenure.
“Jonathan
thinks that former heads of state do not go to jail; he should go and
read history. All these things that went on during his tenure, are
supposed to be on his table because all bucks stopped at his table,” Igbokwe told Vanguard.
“He
is supposed to be the one that should be held responsible but because
other heads of state are pleading for him, that is why he is busy
junketing all over the place. He is busy talking all over the place and
people are taking him seriously. I do not take him seriously,” he added.
Jonathan also said that his administration fought corruption but it didn’t publicize its own war.
