Protesters invade Supreme Court, urge accused justices to step aside


Seven judges were accused of bribery and corruption and arrested by the DSS between October 7 and 8.

A group of protesters has urged the judges who were recently arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS) to step aside until the conclusion of their trials.
Nine judges have so far been accused of bribery and corruption with the first seven being arrested by the DSS between October 7 and 8.
The protest is ongoing at the premises of the Supreme Court of Nigeria in Abuja.
Some of the demonstrators are carrying placards which say: “Stop corruption before it stops you” and “Don’t get it twisted judiciary is not on trial, only corrupt officials are,” among others.
Two of the accused judges, Justices Inyang Okoro and Sylvester Ngwuta, are members of the Supreme Court.
