A headmistress in Britain has now become the first school in the country to ban homeworks for students.
Her
reason? Catherine Hutley says this line of action is to give teachers
time to plan more inspiring lessons. She believes time used in preparing
and marking homework could be spent on more productive activities.
She added that while homework is banned, after-school
activities would still be encouraged with tasks on the school's website
and prizes to be won as motivation for students.

But there are mixed feelings among parents regarding this move. One mother said:
“My daughter has never been a big fan of homework so she’s really chuffed about the new policy.
But
I’ve told her that it doesn’t meant she’s off the hook as I am going to
make sure she’s still studying for a couple of nights each week."
Another dad said:
"As
usual the kids who want to work hard and succeed will still do well. My
worry is for the youngsters who need to study harder to get the
results.
It could be that they are the ones who suffer."
