Benue Governor, Samuel Ortom, has been accused of running a corrupt and deceitful government.
Ortom's predecessor, Gabriel Suswam made
the accusations on Tuesday, October 11 while addressing an executive
committee of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP,) in Makurdi.
He also said that the Governor has militarised democratic governance by arbitrarily arresting members of PDP unjustifiably.
Suswam said: "The
government has resorted to appointing sole administrators for the 23
local government areas of the state, a development that is not known in a
democratic setting.
"It is for these
reasons that I will continue to raise alarm and not chicken out because
this government said it will throw me in jail. They should know that I
am not afraid."
The
former governor added that the state treasury has been basterdised. He
called on the people to join force with him to chase the Governor and
his officials out of power.
