A source close to the new mega
party known as the Action Democratic Party (ADP) has revealed that the
party has resolved to zone the presidency to the North.
The
party chieftain also revealed that the ADP has learnt from the mistakes
of the All Progressives Congress (APC), adding that nothing will be
left to chance.
According to Tribune
Online, the ADP recently submitted its application for registration form
to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Also one of the party leaders said ‘‘learning
from the failures of the All Progressives Congress(APC), which also
dubbed itself a mega party at inception, but had failed to deal with
issues of power configuration and thereby fell into a stiff power
struggle its leaders are still grappling with at the National Assembly.
“We
will not make the same mistakes made by the APC and the other big
party, the PDP. We are ready to take adequate notice of the
sensibilities of the various geopolitical components of the country and
ensure that all interests are taken care of.”
The
leader also revealed that the Vice President seat and that of the
Senate President have been zoned to the South-East and South-West
respectively.
South-South Zonal Coordinator of the party, Senator Rowland Owie said the party is planning carefully about the zoning formular.
Owie also warned easterners against courting former President Olusegun Obasanjo, saying “I
urge the South-East to support the emerging ADP and get the VP slot in
2019 and thereafter take the presidential slot when presidency returns
to the South.”
There are insinuations that the mega party is a creation of those who have been frustrated out of the ruling APC.
