The Niger Delta Development
Commission (NDDC) has pleaded with the Rivers state Governor, Nyesom
Wike to reverse the revocation order placed on its land by the state
government.
According to Vanguard, the NDDC Chairman, Sen. Ndoma Egba made the plea while paying a courtesy visit to Wike.
Egba said “The
Chairman called attention of State Government to the urgent need for
the parcel of land to the Commission’s operations. “We are confident the
Rivers state government will reverse its earlier decision, because the
state has since inception shown tremendous goodwill to NDDC.”
He also added that “The
state promised to give us a headquarters building at inception and it
delivered on that; we want the government to help us protect that
property which is facing some legal challenges.
“The
Chairman disclosed that work was in progress at the site of the
permanent headquarters of the Commission, adding that the land that was
revoked by the government for public use would provide access to the new
office complex.
“We appeal that the land be given back to us because of its importance.”
The NDDC Chairman also commended the Rivers state government for hosting the commission for over 16 years.
According to reports, Governor Wike promised to address the issue promptly.
Meanwhile, the Niger Delta Revolutionary Crusaders (NDRC) has
called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to probe
the board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
