The Nigerian military has arrested five persons alleged to be sponsors of the Boko Haram terrorist group.
The
suspects, who have not been named, include two prominent politicians, a
traditional ruler and two popular Islamic clerics, according to
reports.
“More revelations are coming and more people may be arrested in days to come,” a military source told The Sun.
The arrests have also been confirmed by Theatre Commander, Operation Lafiya Dole, Maj. Gen. Lucky Irabor.
“It is true we have arrested some people. They may be known faces. We started picking them one by one,” he said.
“We’re taking them now and we are still investigating them so I can’t give you any details,” he added.
The military, on December 23, 2016, claimed a victory over Boko Haram after capturing its notorious stronghold, Sambisa Forest.
